Campaign Character

I just threw my name into the ring for City Council Pos 4. I had the pleasure of meeting my opponent Tana Senn for the first time last night at the City Council meeting. She strikes me as a pleasant person with a bright smile and warm demeanor. I just happen to disagree with her on a whole host of issues.

So suppose tomorrow I sent out an email to the voters of Mercer Island saying 'Tana Senn is a board member for the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle, thus I can only assume she has a hidden agenda and voters of Mercer Island should beware.' You'd be rightly appalled!

Read what Dan Grausz wrote in a recent email "My opponent refers to himself as a “Leadership and Management Consultant” rather than identify himself as being with the Best Christian Workplaces Institute. I can only assume he has concluded that people may see that name and think he is too conservative for Mercer Island." Never mind that the affiliation is clearly listed on his opponent's website. This is flat out stereotyping, discriminatory and clearly inappropriate behavior.  Perhaps this is why Mr. Grausz was so inept in handling the harassment case that bogged down our city for so long, requiring over a million dollars in settlement. He doesn't even know when he's doing it himself! It is beneath the title of deputy mayor.

Tanna Senn and the rest of the professional politicians should be running from this small-minded campaign instead of acting as proxies and cheerleaders, painting caricatures of a candidate that doesn't exist just so they can create a straw man to burn at their political bonfire.
