I very excited about the contest...."2nd annual". It's a terrific community event. IRead More encourage anyone that likes to bake to enter. If your not a baker come see all the entries and be a "People's Choice" judge. As a MIYFS Advisory Board Member, I see first hand all the great things that MIYFS does for our community. Please support MIYFS!

When I got married, my dad gave me a pile of index cards, little lines of wisdom, that he hopedRead More would help me through my first year of marriage. I remember two--"never go to bed angry" and "look with your neck." The first one made sense. When I asked about the second, he replied, "Look, some of these apply to being married. Some apply to staying alive so you can stay married. I've seen you drive. You need to do a better job of looking out for that other car. Don't just look in the rear-view mirror. Turn around and 'look with your neck.'" I'm teaching my son to drive now, and I use that phrase every day. Thanks, Dad!

Mercer Island is a horrible place to bike unless it's a short distance. Many seniors do not haveRead More the coordination to maneuver around the bicyclists and some of the drivers are downright rude, driving on the shoulder of Island Crest Way on purpose trying to intimidate and thereby, endangering the bicyclists.
