With the opening of the new PEAK (Providing and Empowering Activities for Kids) facility in August 2010, the Mercer…More Island Boys & Girls Club reinforced its status as one of the community's leading youth organizations.
Services and facilities include:
a multi-sport fieldhouse
sports leagues and clinics
computer learning labs
infant and child care centers
music studio and performance theatre
outdoor play structure
PEAK is also home to two preschools: the school district's preschool program, four days a week; and the Cooperative Preschool, run by Bellevue College (contact the college for more information).
The club has long been known for running many of the island's youth sports teams, including Little League baseball and softball. In addition, numerous opportunities are available for camping excursions and experience learning. Youth service programs, such as the Keystone and Torch Club, encourage older children to give back through service to the community.
Northwest Yeshiva High School, the only Jewish high school in the state, maintains a highly-regarded college…More preparatory and Judaic studies curriculum.
Perched on a hillside in the Mid-Island area above Island Crest Way, the school is a tight-knit community of students and teachers committed to producing well-rounded young adults. Students are also required to perform community service during each school year to foster a strong sense of volunteerism. The school also offers a number of interscholastic sports and electives and maintains strong ties to Israel. More than half of the student body spends a year abroad in Israel before continuing on to college.
Head of School Rabbi Bernie Fox administers both the general and religious curriculums.
