Community-based services include loss and grief counseling, alcohol and drug prevention and youth development. MIYFS also contracts with other providers to help with domestic violence, sexual abuse and other legal aid. Emergency services, such as a food bank and rent assistance, are also available.

MIYFS also provides student counseling services inside Mercer Island's public schools.

MI Girls' Lacrosse  Club runs girls' lacrosse teams on the island. It offers elementary, middle and high schoolMore programs divided into Division 1, 2 and JV teams. Because lacrosse is not a sanctioned FIAA school sport, MI Girls' Lacrosse is operated at the club level. The club's board is made up entirely of parent volunteers. As team and equipment fees can be quite hefty, the club offers scholarships for families who can prove a need for financial assistance.
