Some trails are accessible by wheelchairs and strollers. Trails in the northeast quadrant of the park also connect to the Engstrom Open Space area, an 8-acre area of wilderness.

Upper Luther Bank Park in a sense overlooks Luther Burbank Park.  It abutts a sleepy 84th Ave SE, with housing lotsMore a little bigger and tree-lined.  This park is not on the Mercer Island Parks website and may be a little overlooked.  Although no where near as large as Pioneer Park, it has that feel: several trails with full bodied Northwest trees and overgrowth.  Great for walking the dog.

The shopping center is within walking distance of Islander Middle School, Pioneer Park, Fire Station 92, Mercer Island Country Club and the South Mercer Playfields.
