At this colorful shop, owner Denise Mouroux raises and sells large parrots, small lovebirds and many otherMore smaller "talkers." Mouroux, a Certified Avian Specialist, hand-feeds more than 50 birds a year, selling them only when they are fully weaned. She and her staff carefully ensure their birds go to good homes by not selling a bird the same day a customer decides to buy, avoiding spontaneous uninformed decisions.  

Tempting parrot toys, many designed to be picked apart and shredded, hang from display racks and the ceiling. Birds happily perch in cages in the middle of the shop. Full-service grooming, boarding and behavior consultation are available. The shop, open since 1994, ships toys and food to customers all over the United States, but Mouroux prefers that new bird owners visit in person.
