MIHS Senior Assembly: A Final Farewell

Seniors went through the "gauntlet" at the close of the assembly, a tunnel comprised of teachers who offered high fives and hugs as their students passed through

The Senior Assembly is true Islander tradition at : The Senior Dance, the Senior Video, special awards and the naming of next year's 4 Flag Dudes. The Washington Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) also awarded MIHS the for the 3rd year in a row, and the 4th time in 5 years--an award given for academic excellence and athletic success in state tournaments.

The Scholar Athlete awards went to Andy Wingerson (Swimming, 4.0) and Hailey Gullstad (Basketball, 3.98). Athlete of the year awards went to Ben Emmanuels and Jae Shin. The U.S. Army National Reserve Scholar Athlete awards went to Quinn Sterling and Liana Shibuya.

The Ethel Johnson award for attitude and heart was awarded by faculty vote to Laura Wessbecher and Ben Poor. The unsung hero awards were given to Evan Thompson (basketball) and Crawford (Gregory) Leeds (golf).

The grand finale was the teacher/staff gauntlet followed by the senior video, hundreds of photos celebrating the class of 2011!
